Following the 1893 publication of what was meant to be the last Sherlock Holmes story, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle relented under the pressure of intense public demand and irresistible financial offers from British and American publishers and revived the celebrated sleuth for "The Adventure of the Empty House." That story, and the other five collected here, date from this later period. All were featured in Granada's classic United Kingdom television series of the 1990s. Included are "The Adventure of the Devil's Foot," "The Adventure of the Abbey Grange," "The Adventure of the Cardboard Box," "The Man With the Twisted Lip," and "The Adventure of the Bruce-Partington Plans."
