So reading this book and taking a tour of Gettysburg PA is the extent of my knowledge on this subject. I must read more. It had never occured to me that many of the soldiers would be very recent immigrants to the United States, and therefore would still feel very close ties to groups of soldiers with whom they shared a mother tongue. Long book but very well written. Not boring ever. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
A novel of love in time of war and revolution, freedom and tragedy, set against the broad canvas of the American Civil War. At the heart of the novel is a little-known fact of history - the formation of a militia by a motley band of Czech immigrants who took up the cause of freedom.
