[Saint of Circumstance] is an excellent book and frightening in that it is a true story. Alex's parents apparently believed that their money meant they, and most especially their son, did not have to be accountable to anyone, that no matter what they did, they were still wonderful people. Naturally, raising a child without moral scruples is a recipe for irresponsible behavior and that's eactly what transpired. To this day, even though he is in prison for a long time, Alex likely does not believe he is truly guilty of rape. Nor do his parents believe they are guilty for abetting him in evading trial by hiding him in Europe. I;m sure they feel that they are being targeted simply because they're rich and beautiful. How sad for everyone. ( )
