The granddaughter of the family's housekeeper, she's worshipped Vincent DuChamps from afar--the ever unattainable prince in her fairy tale dreams. Little does she know that Vincent harbors his own secret feelings for her, but other darker secrets that he sees as an insurmountable obstacle to ever being the man she deserves, have prompted him to avoid her altogether. When Thomas, the family patriarch dies, his will bears some unpleasant surprises for them both. Thomas wants nothing more than for Vincent and his siblings to be happy, and in his final act as the only father figure they've ever had, engineers a series of contingencies in his will that require them each to face their demons. Only too aware of what Vincent really feels for Ophelia, Thomas creates a situation that will force Vincent to confront his feelings. Unless, Vincent and Ophelia marry, Vincent and his siblings will lose everything, including the family business. Forced into such close proximity, denying their attraction for one another becomes impossible. But even as they grow closer, other threats to the future of DuChamps Hotels and all that Vincent holds dear threaten to destroy their burgeoning relationship. Ophelia has played it safe her whole life. Taking a risk on Vincent is a frightening prospect. Vincent and his siblings were raised by his Uncle Thomas shortly after his parents' demise. Unfortunately, Vincent being the oldest, has vivid memories of his father's jealousy and his parents constant bickering that he reached the conclusion that marriage only brings misery. Uncle Thomas' assistant was the housekeeper' s granddaughter Ophelia. She grew up alongside the Beauchamp siblings and has always been in love with Vincent. Little did she know that he was attracted to her as well. After a passionate one night stand with Ophelia, Vincent decides it was a huge mistake and vows to stay away from her. At the reading of Uncle Thomas' will, it states that in order for the siblings to keep their inheritance, Vincent and Ophelia must get married. Not only must they live together but also share the same bed for one year. Will Vincent's haunting memories ruin his chances for a lifetime of happiness?

This was an unusual romance novel. Instead of a love hate relationship, or one person chasing the other, we see two people that have been secretly in love with each other since childhood. This was certainly an example of opposites attracting. The story was pretty good and flowed nicely. The only issues I had were: 1) Ophelia seemed a little too easy for my taste considering she's supposedly so proper. 2) There's quite a bit of sexual content, I don't think this novel is considered erotica but it was pretty graphic. Other than that, I think this was a great romance. ( )

3.5 Stars.
Almost made it to 3.75 which would have rounded up to 4. But alas, there were parts that dragged a bit.
Overall, I enjoyed it.
I liked how sneaky the 'family patriarch' and Ophelia's grandmother arrange for these two to get together.
Mostly it was a fun erotic read. The sex scenes were steamy. It could NEEDED to move faster.

Btw, this author uses two pen names. There are lots of good points about this book.
But I hate it when the Hero is in love with the heroine and has been for years but for whatever reason he can't be with her even though he knows she's the 'one' so he stays away from her (fair enough) and sleeps with countless other women.
If you can overlook that it's good. ( )
