Scott has no idea what he is in for when he gets Joe’s note, telling him to come to his lover’s apartment at midnight. Not that this is very different from any of the other invitations, but somehow Scott has a feeling this will be different. And boy, is it ever. Scott almost balks at what Joe asks of him, but the execution of the scene reassures him in a way he never would have expected. His submission gains a whole new depth and Scott’s understanding of what it means to be Joe’s sub improves. To know that, no matter what happens, no matter what commands he is given, he is still the sub and Joe is still the Dom gives him a new level of self-confidence.
Joe isn’t exactly apprehensive (even having his name and the idea in the same sentence would make him bristle with indignation). But he isn’t relaxed either. The step he is taking with this scene reflects his realization at the end of the last volume in a very nice way. And the deeper they get into this scene, the surer he is that he is right, did the right thing, and wants to move ahead with Scott at his side.
If you like D/s stories with a little unexpected twist, if you enjoy two lovers discovering that there is more than lust and passion to their relationship (as hot as they are), and if you’re a fan of Scott and Joe, you will probably like this story as much as I do. I can only say that I loved this surprise – and may there be many more.
