I seem to be reading a lot of books lately that make me want to cry. I promised myself that I would take a break from them and without paying any attention I picked up another one! Breaking Nova is the story of Nova and Quinton, both whom have major issues that they aren't dealing with.
Nova's boyfriend committed suicide and she was the first one to find him, and instead of dealing with it she has tried to block most of it out.
Quinton was driving the car that wrecked killing his girlfriend and his cousin. Quinton's mother died giving birth to him and while his dad raised him; it was mainly him raising himself. Quinton moves in with his cousin Tristan, and Tristan's friend Dylan and happens to meet Nova.
Nova is dealing with things the best way that she knows how, but soon learns that drugs will give her the silence that she craves inside herself. She gets deeper in with the drugs and starts developing feelings for Quinton. And while Quinton has been numbing himself with drugs for almost a year, he doesn't think that Nova should, he believes that she is too good for that kind of life.
Things heat up between Nova and Quinton and then come to a crashing halt. Nova realizes that she is heading down the wrong path and starts working to get herself out of it. Quinton however just isn't there yet and Nova knows that she must tell him goodbye and hopefully she will be able to pull him out when she is in a better place to help.
There were tears, giggles and even fits of wanting to toss the kindle, but I kept it together and while the ending has me wanting the next book NOW.. I will have to wait like everyone else.. Run out and get your copy today!! ( )

I went into this blind, as I had no clue what this was about. I had also never read anything by Jessica Sorensen. Where have I been?

That prologue! I was hoping the story kept pace with it, as I was pulled in right away. I was happy it did. Both Nova and Quinton are dealing with tragic pasts, and trying to move on. The author did a great job incorporating both of their pasts in this story, as both brought so much emotion to the characters and story.
This deals with loss and what can come along with it: feeling lost, turning to substance abuse, coping skills, and moving on.

I read this in only a few hours, and I am immediately starting book 2. ( )
