The saga continues, but with more twists and turns to keep your head reeling for weeks. This was a very anticipated book for me... I made sure I was uninterrupted, calm, and open-minded before I started this one... you really need to be as this story is not like many others in the way it's written, carried out, and concluded!! Of course there's still a ton of angst going on with everybody's past, present, and future, however Blaire seems to be coming to terms with what life had dealt her and she seems to be making more rational decisions in this second installment! Now... bring on Rush... He's still as hot as ever, but things have changed. He's starts out more crabbier than ever, but with good cause. After about half the book I could see him altering, making nice with others and I have no doubt it was attributed to one person. I'm just sad it wasn't me..LOL! Seriously how could anyone be pleasant or cheerful when you've got the bitch from hell for a sister taking jabs at you and the one you love?? Blaire on the other hand held strong a little longer than I wanted her to. I was getting more pissed by the minute learning that others knew about her circumstances way before Rush did and she still chose to wait to tell him anything! That being said... I love Blaire with all my heart, and if I were going to be a fictional character, it would be Blaire... she's strong, smart, sexy, and all around a good girl! Glad to see the rest of the crew coming back full force... Love me some Bethy, Jace, and Woods... the story would be just soso without them. Now Nan, Georgianna, and Abe can go fly a kite, they did add tons of turmoil to the story, but I'd just assume beat all their butts than be around them! Most of my one-starred reads earn their rating by being infuriating or agonizing or boring to read. Not this one. Never Too Far wasn't really boring, and neither the story nor the characters nor the writing were all that infuriating or agonizing. No. Never Too Far was just...bad. In the first book of this series, the characters wobbled a little in their consistency and edged into Mary Sue or Gary Stu territory at times, but Blaire had a certain delicate gallantry and Rush had a bad boy charm made mysterious and appealing through Blaire's narration. And both characters were wrapped up in a family drama that rendered them vulnerable and sympathetic. This sequel did away with all of that, flattening Blaire and Rush to needy, and occasionally thoughtless, cowards brought together by a lazy cliche to once more swill the stale dregs of that same old family drama. There's nothing fresh or particularly engaging about any of it, though I'm sure many readers found the plentiful sex scenes enough distraction from that unfortunate reality. I don't hate this book, not at all, but it was the epitome of a sophomore slump, and I can't decide if I care enough about the Rosemary Beach characters to risk wasting my time on book three. I actually liked this book more than the first one. I still have all the same complaints- it needs a better editor and a thesaurus. The writing and plot was kind of choppy. But, overall the characters were more likeable here and I enjoyed seeing the plot get tied up, even if it was a little neat and tidy. Overall, I found myself more interested in the secondary characters than the main characters, but again... not bad fluff. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

"Just when Blaire allowed herself to fall for her stepbrother, Rush, he revealed a life-altering secret so devastating that she couldn't forgive him. Unable to face him again, Blaire leaves the promise of true love behind in Rosemary Beach and returns to the comforts of her small town in Alabama, wanting nothing more than to put the summer behind her. But unexpected news complicates Blaire's plans, and she's forced to trust the one man she shouldn't. Trapped between Rush's fierce desire to win her back and her own sense of self-preservation, Blaire doesn't know if she's doing the right thing . . . or if she's making the biggest mistake of her life." -- No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
