Its a good story.
The banter between Rose and Travis is really funny. She is sharp witted and he comes back at her strongly, i did feel for her at times, he accuses her wrongly and she has no way to prove her innocence, and some of the things he said hurt her and it seemed he had all the power.
There are a lot of misunderstandings and an interfering mother, a good story. ( )

Eugenia Burnett wants to see her sons married. She is willing to take extreme measures to help her boys tap into their "tender emotions" and when she meets Madam Desirée Severin, she's certain this is the girl for her stubborn son, Travis. This book was a freebie and I was pleasantly surprised. I would have rated it a little higher, but some issues/character thoughts were rehashed to the point of going in circles and certain phrases became repetitious.

I did enjoy the book, particularly the banter between Travis and Rose (Madam Desirée), but it lost steam about halfway through. As things progressed, I liked Travis less and less. He turned into a stubborn bully and refused to put his pride down and consider the possibility that he might actually be wrong about things. More than once I was screaming "Run, Rose! Run!" Eventually she found her backbone, but I still think she's too good for him.

Overall it was a light, fluffy piece with adult content that had nice entertainment value.

I can't tell you how much I love books about scheming mothers who try to play match-maker! For the most part, this was an excellent read about her oldest son and a woman with a questionable past. Travis is attracted to her, but he fights it by treating her terribly. He's so hard-head and convinced that she's this awful terrible no-good woman that he never stops to consider that things might not be what they seem.

Naturally there were a few scenes that would have been better left out, but aside from that, I enjoyed the book. ( )

Good Western Romance, about one of the Burnett brothers finally being snagged, with a lot of help from his mother to throw the couple together ( )
