A beautiful story that tore my heart out in the first half then wrapped it up in ribbon and gave it back to me. I couldn't help but fall in love with Mark. The man was incredible. All of the characters were well crafted and touched me. This was no easy read as it was very emotional right down to the last word. I cried a few times. Strongly recommend if you've got a box of tissues handy. ( ) I'm actually speechless.... but in a very good way! I just don't know where to begin to describe how this book made me feel. I was slightly apprehensive in the beginning. Raving reviews sometimes make me wonder if the book is going to live up to its reputation or am I going to be the one that totally disagrees with everyone. Needless to say, no I don't, and I'm very likely to be one of the raving reviews. This story has it all. It will make you laugh, cry (damn you T.A!), swoon and sigh. I couldn't put it down and the only reason I didn't finish it in one sitting was because the battery on my ereader decided to die on me. T.A. Webb takes us into the MC's world and let us be part of their story. Through 10 years of their lives we join them on their ups and downs, the beginning of their friendship, the heartrending ending of a relationship. The start of their love and the hills and valleys along the way. The additional characters are not just thrown in, they are an integral part of the whole. And to top it all off, it's a complete story. It leaves me feeling fullfilled and satisfied. There is no feeling of something left untold, unfinished. I really can't recommend this book enough to everybody and it is now a very firm favourite of mine! Thank you T.A. for sharing this beautiful heartwarming book with us all. 3.5 stars. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either. I'm not quite sure why. I think it's because I found Antonio & Mark's relationship kind of odd in the beginning half of the book. It never really sat quite right with me. It felt like more than friendship and therefore had this infidelity thread woven into it even though he was supposedly so in love with Brian. Brian's death was very touching and did bring a few tears though. Overall, it was a good book, but I didn't seem to love it as much as everyone else. That always seems to happen to me with books that have such glowing reviews. Maybe I expect too much from them. Still, it was a sweet story and most people will continue to love it.
Mark Jennings is at a crossroads. His finance job in the Atlanta nonprofit scene stresses him out, his mother is dying, and his relationship with Brian Jacobs has crashed and burned. He needs a distraction, some way to relax, and a massage seems like just the thing. He never expected his massage therapist, Antonio Roberto, to become his best friend. Despite their differences-Antonio is a divorced single father-the two men forge a firm friendship that weathers Mark's reconciliation with Brian and Antonio's questionable taste in women. Over the years, Antonio remains constant in his support, though others in Mark's life come and go through a revolving door. When a young boy runs away from the group home where he works, Mark finds another door opening. Through it all he holds on to the things his loved ones taught him-about family, about friends and lovers, about life and death. Most importantly, he realizes that sometimes the greatest gift of all is a second chance. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
