Another great little book from Margaret Hillert --illustrated by David Schimmel. This one deals with shapes and is at the easiest First Grade Reading Level.
The book starts out with cookies that our various shapes. Then a package arrives (square) and it is filled with toy shapes. From there boy and dragon go out and look for shapes outside.
One reason I like this book is that it can be used with non-reading younger children. You can sit and discuss shapes in the books and have them look for shapes in the following pages, and then in the world around you.
For beginning readers at the AR 1.0 level there are 76 words. The hardest words are probably the names of the shapes as well as the word 'shape' itself, and someone and something. The pictures give clues of course; and for adults there is a section at the back with suggestions.
Can't go wrong with cookies. ( )
