What began in the The Finest Line and escalated in A Line Crossed, is now concluded in A Line Drawn. As Mairead looks to her future with James, their wedding on the horizon, she is plagued with the demons of her past. One of them seems to have invaded her life, but Mairead is uncertain whether she is the victim of a tortured mind, or the prey of an evil man. Separating reality from a nightmare is difficult, but Mairead is certain that she is not alone in uninvited attention. Someone has an unhealthy interest in James, which is only increasing her troubles. Knowing that her willful nature often leads to trouble, Mairead tries to find peace in obedience, but submitting to such a dominant man has its own painful problems. As their happiness is threatened, Mairead must decide whether submission is the answer, or is it time for a little defiance?… (más)

Mairead Kavanagh is a young, uninhibited, irresponsible, virginal, foulmouthed, (semi-)professional athletic girl/woman of 21 years old. Since her teens she has had a secret crush on her chauffeur-bodyguard-hunk-enigma Luke, because he threatened to discipline her for her foul mouth in the back of her limousine.

There's a combination of couleur locale (New Zealand / Australia), sugar kink, domestic discipline, "bad company" and bravado decisions in the face of danger in this novel with... surprise surprise... a happy ending.

It' think it's probably too gritty for a romance reader, too soft for a kink reader. I guess it's aimed at girls/women the same age as Mairead (rhymes with parade in case you're wondering) who have read and liked "the books that shall not be named".

Lacking proper plot and character building, I think it may be enjoyable nonetheless, even if for no other reason than the Luke-dream. ( )

It was lovely and sexy and hot and painful. The Finest Line follows the love of a brat and a dominant man who knows just what to do with her. It was very different than anything I've even read in erotica. It has a pretty interesting plot that was well thought out, a lot of buildup and downtime where there isn't any hot action, and a ton of harsh spanking. I love spanking, don't get me wrong, but in this story, it often went beyond what I felt the infraction warranted. Because the journey has such volume and it hits the right age bracket, as well as the right voice, I would call this New Adult with spanking and not Erotica, where it likely got dumped by Amazon's censor bots. I don't even really remember if there are drawn out sex scenes because it's the relationship that sticks out in my mind, and the strappings, and that's why I wouldn't classify it as Erotica, which is usually written just for the titillation. The sexual energy really sizzled in various spots, which made it so fun and memorable. I find myself thinking about this book from time to time, so it definitely has glue and glitter. I'm glad I got it. ( )
