It mentions her accomplishments while discussing how she overcame her challenges of being deaf and blind. Young readers will enjoy this uplifting and inspiring story that is beautifully written and easy for students to understand. ( ) This is the story of Helen Keller a woman who at 19 months lost her sight, hearing and the ability. She struggled to exist in her dark world until “the miracle worker” Annie Sullivan came into her life. Annie helped Helen to communicate by spelling words into her hand. Through Annie’ tutelage Helen traveled through world, met presidents, graduated college, wrote an autobiography and many more accomplishments. Great read and beautiful illustrations. This biography was written beautifully. Not only did author Rappaport did a good job telling Helen Keller's story with her mentor Annie, but I loved how Rappaport included Keller's quotes after every page. One of Keller's quotes that caught my eye was "I have the advantage of a mind trained to think, and that is the difference between myself and most people, not my blindness and their sight". I think that Helen Keller is truly amazing, and her dedication to learn and help others says it all. This beautiful book artfully tells the story of Helen Keller, from when she was little until her death at age 87. The text combines Rappaport's prose with quotes from Helen Keller herself. The illustrations bring Helen and Annie Sullivan to life and allow the reader to see what Helen is feeling and sensing. This book tells Helen Keller's story in a way that is relatable and relevant. I highly recommend this book. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
