The Ultimates give him a specially designed costume as thanks for helping out with Electro. He finds out that his dad and his uncle used to do illegal things and that his uncle never quit and is known as the Prowler. He has told his best friend Ganke about his newfound abilities. The Prowler goes to Mexico to deliver his shipment to the Scorpion and instead screws him over and takes his money. He hears about a new Spider-Man and figures out it must be Miles and heads back to New York City to see how he can cash in on this. Meanwhile, the Scorpion is not taking this lying down. He wants revenge and he heads to New York City to get it. Miles decides to be Spider-Man even though he's not sure how to be him yet. The suit helps him in a way. It moves for him. Ganke finds some old footage of Peter Parker fighting and Miles studies that in hopes of learning from it. Miles must also try not to get caught missing from his room by the teacher. Though sneaking out is easy with his ability to blend in with his surroundings and pretty much become invisible. I love Bendis's work on All New X-Men: Yesterday's X-Men and Jessica Jones, but this one is missing something for me. I don't know quite what it is yet. I'll give the series another shot because he deserves that much. Milo is trudging along, trying to get a grip on his powers, trying to get a handle on how to keep his secret. Unfortunately his uncle has figured out his secret and he seem's to be blackmailing Milo into helping him. The deal doesn't seem awful, learn about his powers; take down a very bad guy but knowing what we know about the Uncle can it really be such a great deal. This volume felt like set up but I was okay with it. We watch Prowler figure out Milo's identity and we see that he's going to try and manipulate it to his own ends. Milo is still trying to figure out his place in the world, learn his powers and wishing he had someone with powers to talk to that he could relate to, which I think is definitely a facto that pushes him towards going in with his uncle even though he knows that the deal probably isn't a straight one. I feel like I didn't realize that Milo was 13 when I read the last book. This makes the whole thing a little bit more heart wrenching. Milo is basically a baby and he has to deal with so many grown up issues already and that was before he became Spider-Man. I definitely want to keep reading this one.
