I appreciate there is a timeline at the bottom of each page that aligns with state standards. It provides a visual for students to see exactly what is a timeline and how to create and use it. Bessie Coleman is a biography about the first black woman to become a pilot. It talks about the struggles she faced when attempting to go to school to be a pilot in the US and how France was her only other option. Bessie Coleman died in a plane accident, but is known in history for her perseverance and determination despite the odds. ( ) This story uses a timeline to show how Bessie Coleman became the world's first African American pilot. The text is big and there are pictures that do a great job of putting a face to the story. I think it would be good for students of all races, socioeconomic backgrounds, and cultures to see that their dreams really can come true. The reading level is grades 4-8. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
