Each 2-page spread details one of the crocodilian species. Each subtopic is presented in large font on its own colored dialogue box. The pictures are modern and realistic- great angles. The subtopics focus on the things that most interest kids: attacks, eating, ferocity, etc.
For students who are really interested in additional facts about lifespan and body type, this book may not suffice. It's a contemporary style meant to be really visually appealing, full of stimuli, and skimpy on details that really push the reader to think deeply. So, for the beginner reader or for a fun book to have lying around, I really like it. But I'm a little wary of books that so forcefully try to use this 'in your face', bubbling-over stimuli effect to interest readers. Books written in this style don't seem to trust that a young reader would otherwise have the tenacity to read page by page, purely out of self-motivation. ( )
