Now, disowned, with no husband or family to support her, she's left with one option: go to work in the notorious Tantalus Club...A gentleman's gaming house run by a woman, the Tantalus is no place for a proper lady; so, to save face, her jilted fiance must retrieve her. But banned from the club, he's forced to employ his ne'er-do-well cousin instead. A handsome, experienced rogue, Keating Blackwood is the perfect man to lure Camille away. I don't normally read romance novels, however the book How to Catch A Devilsh Duke was assigned to us for books club. It was the third in a series. This book is the second in that series. I decided to read it as well because Keating Blackwood, the main character of this book was referenced so much in my assigned book club book and seemed interesting as he had killed a man. I wanted to know more about that and I must say I would have preferred this in book club, it was the better book of the two and a more fun read due to his "scandalous" past. ( )

I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars! I just loved it!

While I thought the first book in the series was good, but not great, Taming an Impossible Rogue (Scandalous Brides #2) was fantastic!

Camille Pryce was thrown into a life of scandal when she fled the alter from an arranged marriage with an arrogant and cold fiance she'd never spoken with. Camille found her way to the Tantalus Club for employment after her parents kicked her out and her friends all turned their backs on her. The Tantalus club became her home and her family and protected her by not allowing membership to her ex fiance, the Marquis of Fenton.

Sick of being laughed at, Fenton hired his rogue of a cousin "Bloody Blackwood" to secure his betrothed and bring her begging for forgiveness back to the alter. Keating Blackwood had been hiding in the country, far far away from the London ton which ridiculed and loathed him. After a mistake he made as a young man six years ago caused him to kill the husband of his lover in self defense, he ran away to the country where he drank and brawled and sent every penny he earned to the woman whose husband he had killed and his illegitimate son. When Fenton offers Keating a huge sum of money in exchange for his help getting a nervous bride back to the alter, it's a deal too good to refuse despite his dislike for his pompous cousin.

After meeting Camille, Keating is pleasantly surprised by the strength, beauty, and defiance of the chit he thought would be timid and mild. At the same time, Camille makes an unlikely friend in the only person whose scandalous past has more tongues wagging than her own. This is where the book takes off to unexpected greatness ... instead of the lies that would be hanging over the readers head expecting the other shoe to drop, Keating and Camille have complete honesty right from the beginning.

**mild spoiler alert - just mild, but just skip the next paragraph to aovid it if you wish**

Keating discloses to Camille everything - that he is being paid, what the terms are, why he needs the money. The whole friendship is based on honesty and trust which is so much more enjoyable to read than waiting for Camille to find out he's being paid and hating him for it. It's a clever story set up and so much more enjoyable!

**mild spoiler alert over**

Their friendship and protection of each other is inspiring and romantic and wonderful. The most important thing to each of them is the others happiness. Along with the help of some unlikely allies - Sophia and Adam, the book is laugh out loud funny and enjoyable from start to finish. It reminds the reader what true friendship and true love is all about. Will they sacrifice everything so the other can have security and money? Or will they find that there are some things much more important than a little scandal? Things like happiness and love ...

This book is remarkable and romantic and delightfully well written.

I found I really liked the characters, Camille and Keating. I was drawn into their problems and found their thoughts and solutions believable and engaging. I did not like how abrupt the ending was. I like to have a chapter or two of happy resolved romance at the end of a story. I did like this enough to track down the other books in the series. ( )

What I liked- This is book 2 in the Scandalous Brides series. I also enjoyed the first book and it was nice to see the characters I already knew showing up to say hello and give updates on how they were doing. The Character of Camille is sympathetic. She would do anything she could to help the man she loves. Even living without him. Her selflessness touched me even as I was mentally slapping her across the face.

What I didn’t like- This book was very predictable in places. The ending was rather sudden and abrupt. ( )
