Anyway, back to the story itself. Here we have a shifter who changes into a house cat. Fletcher seems to be about as harmless as a kitty - until he shows his claws in defense of his mates. While he was the physically 'small' partner (including some pretty bratty behavior), he manages to hold his own in other ways.
Caspian, a pegasus shifter, is outwardly the strong warrior type, but he really just wants a mate - exactly like Fletcher. Fletcher falls for him easily - and who wouldn't? He's a big softie.
The third one in the group, Shade the gargoyle, is a tortured soul. He adds some adventure and danger to the story, just due to who he is. I hated the way he put himself down but there is a god explanation for it - and one that I think might return in later stories. While the problem is solved for these three mates, I suspect we will hear more of this issue.
If you like unusual shifters, hilarious combinations of different personalities and don't mind some cloak and dagger adventure added into the mix, you will probably like this book. ( )
