I have read a few novels by this author and must admit that of them all, this one was my favourite! The characters were absolutely fantastic and I couldn't help but love them. I enjoyed Wren's humourous rants to Woden, Erik's strength and love for his wife, Omar's quirky personality, and, most of all, Freya's brave and intelligent approach to the dilemmas she had to face. The plot kept me reading and I had to finish the book in one sitting. Definitely a must for fans of fantasy! Esta reseña ha sido escrita para Sorteo de miembros LibraryThing. I found the second book in the Europa series interesting and entertaining. It is a story from the distant past in a society that is facing many of the problems that we face in the modern world. The struggle for power and the greed that goes along with it are shown in the book as being the cause for the major conflicts going on in their little world. As the war against the "reavers" spreads to outlying areas the story brings together and interesting cast of characters who find themselves embroiled in a struggle not of their own making simply because they are searching for a cure.I enjoyed the first of the series and look forward to the next volume to continue the story. Yes it is fantasy but it still can be related to what is going on in the world at this time. Very good job. Admittedly, the only reason I started reading this is because I judged the book by its cover. There. I said it. Moving on, it was one of those that you could pick up for free and read on your kindle. That being said, were it not free I would have paid for the book itself. Since reading this, I have read the entire Europa Trilogy, Chimera #1, moved on to Halcyon #0, and am on #1 currently. Not the intended order to be sure, but hey - the stories are diverse enough to make it work. I particularly enjoyed the fact that while I was expecting (and did receive) a fun fantasy story, I ended up immersed in a world that was much richer than anticipated. I like the fact that the author takes the risks he does in his story telling, and while there are some things I may miss from some parts of these books not present in others (characters, settings, etc etc)for various reasons, there are enough unique and interesting characters and places to keep me interested. Now that Chimera #2 is out, I'm keenly interested in reading the rest of the Halcyon series to so I can move on to the final Chimera book and see how everything culminates. I have really enjoyed this book as well as others in the same setting and am looking forward to other works by this author. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

They run into Wren, a vala or healer, and Omar (from book 1), an immortal from another land. The 4 of them joined together to battle not only the Fenrir and his beasts, but the queen from the city where the plague seems to have originated.
I really like the story and characters. Mr. Lewis has a very captivating style of writing. I like that we got a more in depth look at Omar and can not wait to read Book #3. ( )
