Really good book. It talks about different aspects of creating a better handling system for your muscle cars such as in the chassis and suspension. You can have all the power in the world under the hood of your car, but without a decent suspension or chassis, it won't really do you all that well if you can't handle it. A better performance from your car makes for a smoother, more comfortable ride. ( )

This book gives you ideas and improvements to make your muscle car handle well. Chassis and brakes upgrades a must for the old muscle cars, "AM" chassis designs now called Heritage platforms, like it said if you can go from old Am radios to working sound system, why not? Upgrades, let's be real the old cars weren't designed for performance and with poor suspensions. The suspension geometry design plays an important role in the muscles cars but found to be terribly lacking back then, so what do they do now, "upgrade." This book will explain how to tackle it, not bandage it up but fix it. Excellent read and easy to follow for the backyard mechanics. I received a free book that I had won through LibraryThing. Thank you, Darlene Cruz ( )

This is a good introductory book for improving the handling of the American Muscle Car. The book is broken into sections with photos and supporting text to help improve your handling performance. The final sections even include differences in various makes. The layout of the sections do not follow a logical progression but this does not detract from the information. Almost everything is covered with the exception of load bearing ball joints. Only error I noticed was a photo of a rear suspension in the section for front suspensions. Read the table of contents to make sure you read the sections in a more logical order. ( )

This book seems to me to be a pretty thorough review of the components of American muscle cars that affect handling. I do not consider myself an expert on the subject, but there weren’t any errors or gaps in the coverage that stood out to me. A thorough review of a subject matter like this can be very useful as an introduction for the novice, but also as a comprehensive overview for those more knowledgeable, who may benefit from having all the information pulled together in one place. Even if you “know” most of this stuff, if your knowledge has been picked up piecemeal from different sources and from experience, it can be very useful to go through something like this to fill in any gaps in your knowledge. I also imagine it would be a useful reference to keep on the shelf. The layout seemed very logical, the illustrations were clear, and the text was easy to read. My only issue is that this is presented as a “how-to” book, both in the title and in the series name. While there are plenty of practical tips that will be helpful, this book is mostly fundamental in nature. No doubt it would be highly useful for someone in planning upgrades, but it’s not a book that one would take into the shop to work out of. Overall, though, a well thought out useful introduction, overview, and reference to the issues that affect handling. ( )
