I miss the Star Wars EU, I just kind of don't care about Disney's new canon at all? And the Rogue Squadron/Wraith Squadron books were always some of my favorite EU books. This one has the added bonus of having the central protagonist be not only a Gamorrean of enhanced intelligence, but having said Gamorrean use his sex appeal to disguise himself as a dancer not once but TWICE. It feels like Allston wrote this thing for me. ( ) This pertains to the Audiobook. I have heard the occasional audiobook before and it is usually just some guy reading the book aloud. This one was several steps above. It had music, background sound effects, and the reader did at least a dozen different voices for different characters. The accents and voices fit the characters as well. Scut sounded an "evil Vong", Vort sounded deep and bass like I expect a Gammorean to sound and indescribable aliens sound screechy. The story itself is quite good. I haven't read an X-wing series book in over 10 years so some of the characters have slipped my mind. Allston does a good job of catching us up on what has happened to these characters (as well as introduce a few new ones). The plot somewhat follows the events that happened in the Fate of the Jedi series, but if you haven't read those it wouldn't be a problem. It has to do with the reformed Wraith Squadron (an eclectic group of spies) determining if the Chief Army General is corrupt. If you are looking for continuing stories of the main star wars characters, they do not appear in this book. Overall, I recommend Mercy Kill, and audiobook, for a good addition to the Star Wars EU. Awesome! While it has been a while since I've read some X-Wing'ness, and I've forgotten most of who comprised Wraith Squadron, who can forgot a smart Gamorean who can pilot an X-Wing? Good ol' Piggy! He is what made this work for me. The overall story of political intrigue and traitors between the GA and the New Empire was only so-so. But like I said, Piggy/Voort was just great. And I have to admit, I never saw the whole So go read this! sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Three decades have passed since Wraith Squadron carried out its last mission. Taking on the most dangerous and daring operations, the rogues and misfits of the elite X-Wing unit became legends of the Rebellion and the Second Galactic Civil War, before breaking up and going their separate ways. Now their singular skills are back in vital demand for a tailor-made Wraith Squadron mission. A powerful general in the Galactic Alliance Army, once renowned for his valor, is suspected of participating in the infamous Lecersen Conspiracy, which nearly toppled the Alliance back into the merciless hands of the Empire. With orders to expose and apprehend the traitors and "license to do so by any and all means" the Wraiths will become thieves, pirates, impostors, forgers--and targets, as they put their guts, their guns, and their riskiest game plan to the test against the most lethal of adversaries.
