Warriors Dont Cry is about a girl named Melba. It takes place in Little Rock, Arkanses in 1957. Melba is going to a high school. She and nine other kids are the only black people that are going to be there. The white kids dont like them because of the color of there skin. They try to do bad things to them to try to get them to leave; like trying to burn her and calling her names. The white people would always get better things for example they would have scool buses, whille black people would go walking to school and the white people would have a nice well maintained school while the blacks would have a broken down school.

Absolutely amazing. I had never really put thought into what integration must have been like for those couple black students in Arkansas and was just blown away by how horrific it was for them. I never thought about it at all. Amazing and horrifying. I just wanted to sit down and weep for the way they were treated. ( )
