( ) This was one of my favourite books as a child; I was very much a loner, and I often didn't have anyone to play with, so I would work my way through the suggestions in this book to find things to do. My only objection was that the writers and their families were obviously middle-class, and sometimes I couldn't get hold of the items they assumed children (or their parents) would have easy access to. When I was a child in 1970s England, every primary school teacher had a copy of this book! Well, those with imagination, anyway... Co-authored by seven mothers (Septima) looking for ideas of how to keep their children occupied. Loved it back then; rarely opened when my own children were young. But I remembered lots of the ideas! I bought this for the illustrations by Shirley Hughes. Apparently, I bought it on February 12th 1999. I haven't opened it since - ten years on. It fell open at page 78. `Dressing up in newspaper is a good way to spend a wet afternoon'. Okay, I'll suggest that the next time it rains during the afternoon at work. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
