A phantom of the night, Marcus Le Carpentier was a man who kept everyone at arms length. When he accidentally witnessed a local woman stumble upon a corspe, the last thing Marcus expected was to get involved. He'd done that in the past, and had been running ever since. But since leaving a very frightened Caitlyn Villare alone didn't work for him, he promised to help and then return to New Orleans alone. Unfortunately, Caitlyn's discovery brought a killer out from the shadows, and Marcus was thrust back into the limelight to protect Caitlyn and hunt down a madman all while failing to find the usual reasons he should be walking away. A great story, wonderful characters--most definitely a good read! sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Marcus Le Carpentier was a phantom in the night, a man who let no one in and always kept a low profile. So when he accidentally witnessed a beautiful local woman stumble upon a dead body, the last thing Marcus planned on was getting involved. He'd done that before...and had been living with the dangerous consequences ever since. But since leaving a very frightened Caitlyn Villaré alone didn't sit well with Marcus, he promised to help and then return to the shadowy corners of New Orleans, alone. After seeing the corpse Caitlyn panics and bumps into a strange man (who says his name is Ethan) who is also in the cemetery, taking pictures with a camera. When Caitlyn, Reuben, and Ethan call the police and are brought in for questioning Caitlyn discovers the police never saw or heard from “Ethan”.
Eventually Ethan goes to Caitlyn’s home to show her a photograph he took at the cemetery around the time the crime/murder was committed. At first Caitlyn is suspicious of Ethan but after she sees the photo, and Ethan saves her from being abducted during one of her cemetery tours, she gradually begins to listen to him and trust him. He finally tells her his real name is really Marcus Le Carpentier, an art photographer who is obviously avoiding the police.
Soon, more murders occur, with women with blonde hair and green eyes (the murderer is putting blonde wigs on the victims and gouging their eyes out, replacing them with green glass eyes.) Together Marcus and Caitlyn try to figure out who is obviously targeting Caitlyn…
I really enjoyed this book. Caitlyn was a sweet heroine. Marcus was handsome and mysterious. The villain was crazy. The other characters were interesting. I liked the New Orleans setting. The book had a lively conclusion.
An exciting and captivating read. ( )
