Drugs, romance, and monetary stakes all lead to murder in this racetrack mystery. Kurt could not handle the undercover work anymore and tried to resign but settled for an extended leave of absence. Now Kurt’s friend and partner has been murder and Kurt is the only one with the skills and background needed to catch a killer. The real beauties in the story are the horses, but Kurt finds Julie, a female jockey, can be as dangerous as a mare protecting her colt. ( )

This was a very good romantic suspense novel that kept you reading. I look forward to reading other books by this author.

Loved this book, I am a horse nut so this was a great read for me. Kept me entertained all the way thru! I laughed thru parts of it and cried some too. Kurt was very real and made me really think about what it meant to work undercover and have to maintain a certain personality. Only thing is the title gives away the mystery, which was quite a spoiler. ( )

This is a good read. It was a learning experience for me, since I didn’t know any of the details surrounding horse racing. The main character is called back by his captain and while working on the case finds love. There are no slow spots, and the characters are compelling.
