This one provided an overview of the book of Isaiah. Anytime a Bible book with 66 chapters is covered in only 13 chapters, something will be omitted. I missed the depth he provides in commentaries covering shorter Bible books and wish he'd chosen to break Isaiah into multiple volumes to provide more insights into one of my favorite Old Testament books. If you are seeking a broad overview of the book, this volume will serve well. If you want deeper coverage of specific passages, seek a longer readable commentary. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

An excellent reason for reading Isaiah at this time of year (although, any time is a good time!), as we celebrate the incarnation of Jesus, are all the Messianic prophecies in a Isaiah. Isaiah delivered the message that a Savior was coming through the line of Jesse (David’s father), born of a virgin, that He would perform miracles, be rejected by His own people, stand silently before those who accused him, be bruised for our sins, be smitten, take our burden and penalty upon Himself, pray for those who persecuted Him, be crucified with two thieves, and be buried in a rich man’s tomb - all of these prophecies have been fulfilled. Jesus then conquered death, rising again, and has ascended to Heaven where He makes intercession for us.
Isaiah further prophesied that at a future time, the Savior will return to Earth and set up His kingdom - this prophecy will be fulfilled just like all the others - in this case, in the millennial kingdom. In Isaiah’s time, Isaiah delivered the message: “Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.” (Isaiah 40:1) We can take comfort today, too. No matter what happens in this life, it is only temporary. Jesus is preparing a place for those of us who have accepted His gift of salvation. God has saved us and given us the assurance of a glorious future with Him, which will have no end. We can definitely take comfort in that! ( )
