This book talks about Skippy Jon Jones wanting to go to school. His mom does not like the idea because she says school is for dogs. He goes anyways and soon finds out that bullies lurk throughout the hallways and it is his job to confront these enemies. This book can be best for children in the 1st grade to 3rd grade. It can be used to introduce descriptive vocabulary because this book has such great vocabulary. It can also be used for ELL students because it is a dual language book. They can learn vocabulary in English while listening to it in Spanish as well. Summary: In this Skippyjon Jones adventure, Skippyjon decides he wants to go to school! His family makes fun of him and his mother forbids it but he decides to slip through the closet and go anyways! He has fun with chihuahuas all day and even encounters a bully. He goes to class and explores the library and checks out a book. Skippyjon overcomes the bully and returns home after a fun filled day at school! Personal Reaction: Skippyjon Jones books are so fun to read. They are also a little challenging to read with all of the creative words and silly songs. Children really get into it though because it is such an action packed and fun story to dive into. It would be a good book to read on the first day of school or even in the middle of the school year to cheer kids up and get them excited about school again! Extension Ideas: Have students write their own story about a wild and crazy day at school. Encourage students to use unique language and silly words. Set aside time for students to share their stories and even act out scenes for the class. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
