"A witch on the verge of achieving phenomenal power, Lealandra must turn to her half-breed demon ex-lover Taig for protection from the dark force that is after her and also from her own magic. With her Counter-Balance dead and her coven against her, Taig's blood and power is the only thing that can help her control her magic and survive the ascension and gain the strength to defeat her enemy. Old feelings come flooding back as Taig allows her into his world and Lealandra finds herself fighting not only for survival but to win his broken heart again and heal the pain in their past. Can he forgive her for walking out on him all those years ago and will he ever believe her when she tells him that he's not a monster but the man that she loves?."--… (más)

OK, so this is the first one I have lowered a rating on during my reread. Not that this is bad necessarily but knowing which episodes came later that a far better, I need to lower this one slightly. Amazing developments and Marco and Noel's banter and sexual escapades are priceless. :D

“Blood of my blood, I bestow upon you my power and authority to rule, under the decree of the Kingdom of Ara, this territory. To defend it at all cost from all enemies. To continue to cultivate it and keep it prosperous. Do you accept the title and duty of the Prince of the City? To honor it with your life?”

Original Rating: 5 Stars

Easily my favorite of the books thus far. The plot and character growth is so brilliant...I'm even liking Marco more (yikes, did I say that out loud??) And I cannot get enough of Theoden...what a hot fucking bastard.

[a:Jacqueline Koyanagi|7038434|Jacqueline Koyanagi|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1417780069p2/7038434.jpg] weaves feelings into words with such fidelity and intensity that I had to put my ereader down repeatedly and just marvel in how I felt them myself.

As a queer girl Alana's thoughts, feelings and attention (and the way the author describes them) resonate so strongly with me. I couldn't help but get invested, and the story delivers on that investment.

Coincidentally, I reached the climax of the romantic subplot in the book around the same time my own relationship took on a transition which felt eerily connected, the irony of not having read a chapter or two ahead earlier wasn't lost on me.

This book is wonderful, beautiful, queer lady-led fiction and I *utterly* adored it. I think this one will linger with me for some time to come. ( )

Alana is a sky surgeon working on ships that are mostly outdated when they come to port. More than anything she wants to be working on a ship full time. With her aunt , they are barley getting by and depend on her sister's generosity since she is a much sought after spirit guide. The Tangled Axon docks and comes looking for her sister, when Alana refuses to tell them they leave but not before she stows away with the complicit help of one of the crew. Turns out the pilot is dying and the only way they can think to save her is get the the famous spirit guide Nova to do a job for someone she doesn't want to work for. The story is slow to build but the universe is set up with an interesting premise. I liked it and I didn't see the ending coming.
