There are many reasons I liked this book. The first reason I liked this book is that it explains what happened when integration was introduced and Ruby Bridges was first brought to a “white” school. This is historical topic that many readers may not be familiar with. For example, the book explained that all of Ruby’s white classmates left her class after she enrolled in their school. The second reason I liked this book is that it expresses hope and the goodness in many people during the negative time in Ruby’s life. For instance, the book explained that Ruby was recognized by famous Americans such as John Steinbeck, Norman Rockwell, and Eleanor Roosevelt for her bravery. The big message of this story is that Ruby Bridges was a brave young girl who faced integration on her own and made history. ( )

The book is about a little girl name Ruby Bridges who segregated an all white school in her neighborhood. This was a good book it showed the bravery of a little girl wanting a better education. Her story can teach children that anyone no matter their race is welcome to their school or any public place. Children can realize that even if you’re small in size you can make a big difference.
