A scientist mostly interested in studying Earth's species suddenly finds herself interacting with alien races. Czerneda herself is a biologist and that shows in this novel. I really liked her imaginative exploration of alien physiology. The story was a bit messy in places but it was a fun read. ( ) Mackenzie is a scientist, studying diversity in salmon on a nature reserve on an Earth at least a few hundred years in the future, when the masses have been moved to the industrial colonies. She'd never considered leaving, until a crazy friend and a friendly alien ask for her help in figuring out a deadly mystery far away. Yay for a fun mystery/adventure set in a hopeful future, full of aliens and space travel. I really like the worlds that Czerneda builds and most particularly the alien-human relationships that take place in them (not THAT kind of relationship!). This is a darker series than the Web Shifter series, which I loved. I liked this one and will continue reading it, but I found this book to be a bit frustrating at times. Mostly because I was interested in going one place and the book took me another. Not that this was necessarily bad, but again, a little frustrating. Mac is also a challenging protagonist to *love* but she does grow on you. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
