In an attempt to help his sister, who has cancer, fifteen-year-old Harry again enters Frost Cave to travel back in time, but takes a wrong turn and ends up in Jerusalem in 60 A.D., where the teachings of Christ have been twisted and war and lawlessness prevail, making Harry's task seem impossible.

I listened to this with my family on our vacation travels. This was a decent start to the new series within a series, which will continue for the next two books. I think it was interesting to start the series a bit differently then the past couple, but overall the affect is a bit weaker. The characters now shift to children of main characters in the previous books. I remember quite enjoying some of the interaction and scenes the first time I read this, but they are a bit weaker the second time through. Also, Chris leans more in this series on contacts with historical figures much more, which has diminishing returns as well. ( )

Harry's sister Melody gets cancer. in the third book Melody falls in love with a nephite named Marcos. When she goes back to modern times, He stays in the nephite times and promises that he will come back for her. It's been years and he hasn't come back. Melody is still deeply in love with him. When she gets cancer, Harry decides to go back in time to find Marcos, and bring him back to her. He is very worried that something has happened to him. On his way to the cave where the time portal thing is, His soon to be step sister that he can't stand follows him. thy both go to find Marcos but there are tons of trials along the way. This is a very great book. I really enjoyed it!

This is a twist on the original setting of the series. This time the second generation makes a trek into Israel in the time after the death of Christ. I found it interesting to read the author's imagining of what the early Christian apostasy might have looked like. I also enjoyed the reverence he brings to the subject of scripture. ( )
