Grayson Hawkes learns how imaginative and elaborate Walt Disney World is when he accepts an invitation one sunny day from a trusted friend landing him in a world he never knew existed. Innocently driven by curiosity he finds himself immersed in a heroic adventure. Barely escaping a late night encounter, he finds himself desperately trying to solve a mysterious disappearance while trying to stay ahead of those who are chasing him. Hawkes quickly realizes that unraveling the clues is essential if he is to discover the truth. He navigates through the kingdom where knowledge of seemingly unimportant Disney facts and some divine help are the only way he can discover the lock that can be opened by an ancient key. His world becomes even more complicated when he is captivated by a mysterious woman, causing him to make a series of choices that takes his faith to the brink. Each step is fueled with heart pounding intensity carrying him deeper into a thrill ride of secrecy. Within the walls of Walt Disney World is more mystery than one imagination can contain. Here Disney Trivia is not a game; and the ancient key is the only way out! Jeff Dixon was raised in Florida and has always been fascinated with the man Walt Disney and the theme park he created. Dixon feels that any guest who would take the time to look would discover a story that will never be completed. It is against this canvas that Dixon paints this mystery, adventure, and thriller. The epic drama carries the reader across the state of Florida to discover details that most people have missed. Each discovery and revelation will have the reader wondering if they are reading fact or fiction. In a quickening pace, the characters find themselves on a collision course with an unthinkable outcome! Fans of Walt Disney will love the history and tourists will find a travel guide that takes them on a trip most guests never get to take.… (más)

I loved the DisneyWorld setting, and the Disney trivia throughout the book. Most of the trivia in here is for hardcore Disney fans. The story turns into a scavenger hunt, with the protagonist, Hawk, having to decipher clues about Disney in order to find the next location. I will admit that other than two of the clues, I had no idea what the answers were. Most of them were pretty obscure. The story itself was just ok. Other than the Disney setting, it was just an ordinary mystery story. ( )

First in a series by Jeff Dixon. This has a local preacher from Celebration who is lead on a wild ride through the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL. The main character, Grayson Hawkes, is given a key by one of the original imagineers of Disney. He's told it's the key to the kingdom. Unlocking the mystery that comes along with the key is the story. He goes behind the scenes at Magic Kingdom, as well as into Walt's office. He picks up mail from a character's mailbox inside Hollywood Studios. Stays in the suite in Cinderella's castle. Numerous places from the Walt Disney World Resort are featured in the story. Anyone who likes a good mystery or a good mystery this would be a good book for you. Of course being both I may be a little biased. 2nd time reading it and still loved it. ( )

This was a fun adventure set in Disney World in Florida, packed with Disney trivia and history. It's been many years since I've visited so I didn't quite have the visual in my mind that someone who has been there more often or recently might have had, but even so I enjoyed it!

Our main character is a Pastor of a nearby town who is big Disney fan and is given a mysterious key by a long time friend, who also happens to be a Disney Imagineer. What follows is a scavenger hunt of major proportions that takes him throughout Disney World and gets him hot water with the staff more often than not. There's even fighting and kidnapping! What is this incredible secret his friend has set him on the course to find? I'm not saying, but it's behind Hawk's wildest dreams, that's for sure!

This was fun, and now I'm really interested in learning more about Walt Disney himself and the history of his dream. ( )

Must read for Disney fans everywhere!!!

As a slightly fanatical fan of all things Disney, I read this book straight through and flipped pages faster and faster as I progressed! What a ride!

I especially loved the detail about the parks. Having visited Disney World many times, I found myself walking the streets and seeing the well-researched details provided by the author.

Although the ending is a bit beyond believable, you never know with Disney. The characters are well described and developed, and the storyline progresses quickly.

Two Ears up! ( )

Jeff Dixon’s “The Key to the Kingdom” and “Unlocking the Kingdom” are a pair of books that offer a great read to both mystery buffs and fans of Disney World. Heaped full of Disney trivia and insider views of the Magic Kingdom, the story in both books takes the reader on a whirlwind ride full of mystery, magic and excitement (much like the place itself). The reader can either follow the clues or just sit back and enjoy the ride, or both! I received this book from the publisher and bookfun.org in exchange for an honest review. ( )
