After a near fatal car crash leaves him scarred both physically and emotionally, Matt Harmon finds the solitude of his huge, lonely house too much to bear. Hiring nurse James Hayden to look after him seems like the best idea for Matt, whose fierce independence has been compromised by his injuries. The two men clash from the start as James struggles to help Matt rebuild his shattered body and heal his crushed soul. The bond they form is forged in fire and ice, and the wounds they inflict on one another can only be erased by Matt's admission that he can't live without James's loving touch. Will Matt realize too late that James is the only one who can rescue him from himself? This is a previous release.… (más)

Frustrating, I can't remember reading a book where I so intensely disliked the characters and their behavior. I wanted to kill Matt, or at least hurt him badly. His behavior was inexcusable and yet everyone excused it; and James, after being repeatedly hurt in truly despicable ways, both verbally and at one point physically by Matt, still lets him back in and allows him to keep hurting him. I was very close to DNF this, if the book had been poorl written I wouldn't have. I have enjoyed other books by Ms. Blackwell, but this one just did not work for me. ( )

I don't know how to rate this book. While I enjoyed and felt emotional, I can't say I liked the characters. Matt was way too fucked up and James was way tooooo forgiving; the friends were toooo nosy. I liked the housekeeper of them all.

I really liked the story, but it was just too much cruelty, not enough grovelling. I understand Matt was in denial and he was hurt, but I was super happy when Matt got the shit kicked out of him by James. That was a good scene :) Matt should have gotten his ass kicked several times over.

While I can't say I loved this story, I did enjoy reading it. There was not a lot of emotional investment in the story, I did want James to have a happy ending.... he deserved it. And while Matt wasn't a prince, I did feel for him towards the end of the book.

3/4 stars. I can't decide. I didn't actually like this much but it was something I couldn't put down. I didn't like the MC and didn't think enough information was given about his background for him to be at all sympathetic. He became a bit more likable towards the end, but by then I'd started to dislike the other MC for being such a pushover to this guy who did nothing but treat him like a whore. Ugh. I wanted to stop reading but I couldn't and although I didn't like this in the traditional sense of the word, the relationship intrigued me and I was in tears more than once. If you like your angst and love an almost irredeemable character, you'll love this.

On the other hand, I loved Matt's friends and would read the shit out of a book about them! ( )
