Dennis's story is a captivating memoir of the sole survivor of the "Daniel J. Morrell" shipwreck and the struggles he experienced in life both before and after the wreck. It is an easy read but is packed with emotion. ( )

The life story of the sole survivor of the wreck of the Daniel J. Morrell in Lake Huron on Nov. 29, 1966. Dennis's life story is told in flashbacks between segments of his experiences during the sinking of the vessel and his subsequent 38 hours in a life raft while enduring freezing temperatures, 30 foot waves and high winds. It's a gripping story and once started it's hard to stop reading. Anyone interested in Great Lakes history and shipwreck lore as well as survival under adverse conditions will find something of interest in this volume.
