This is an angsty read about a woman married to a man who had been injured in a carriage accident and is unable to make his wife pregnant. In order to make her happy, he asks his cousin/best friend to give her a baby. Because the cousin, Ainsley, was the one driving the carriage, he feels guilty and agrees. He has also been almost in love with his cousin's wife for years and will do anything to make her happy. There is a lot of heartbreak and angst as the 3 of them arrange and commit this adultery. Of course Lady Jayne and Ainsley fall in love. The story starts off quickly and moves quickly into the meat of the situation. The love scenes are steamy but heartfelt. You really believe in the love between the two main characters. The book slows down just a bit at the end but not enough to drop the star rating. I will definitely looking up the stories about the hero's two brothers. Highly recommended to lovers of non wall paper historicals. You knew what was going to happen just from reading the set up, but how they got there was supposed to be interesting. Supposed to be. The saccharine level was a little bit much for me and the plot ended up being a bit too predictable, especially the resolution. I was literally playing a game as I read to see how well I could guess what was about to happen. Maybe I need to stay away from HRom's for a while. The last few I've read have not worked for me at all... sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
