Evie is having trouble dealing with changes. Her parents are divorced. Her dad has remarried and has a new baby on the way. Her neighbor has lost her cat. Her mom is dating. And she is going to cooking class and crushing on her cooking partner. Is she ready for any of this?

I enjoyed this book. I liked the recipes and Evie's advice to make the recipes the best they can be. Watching Evie deal with all the changes in her life gives her a universality to which I could relate . None of us like changes, especially when the change is outside of our control. Seeing Evie and Corey together was fun. It reminded me of my crushes at that age. An enjoyable book to curl up with on a summer night. ( )

This book is a good book about a girl who's parents are divorced and her dad just got married. It tells about her adventures one class of getting used to this new arrangement and making new friends in her cooking class. At the end of every chapter there is a new recipe for the reader to try and cook if they so choose. This book teaches the reader that even if your family does change you will always love each other no matter what and you can also meet new kind people and have a good time during rough times.

3.5 stars An enjoyable short (middle grade)read, which I feel honestly addresses a young teen's reaction to her parent's divorce and father's remarriage. The book isn't just about that, and I liked reading about Evie and her family and friends, especially the slightly irascible Mrs. H. next door.

This is my favorite book so far. Eggs over Evie is a story of a little girl who is struggling with her parents divorce. I think that this book would be great for kids who are going through similar situations. Evie is trying to navigate her new life with her new stepmom, twim newborn siblings, and not having her dad around all the time. She is also a little soon to be chef who gives a recipe before each chapter. Its very cute how they mix in her actual story line with fun cooking skills for the reader to try. In the end Evie learns that just like a good recipe with many ingredients, her family is also better with more people to love. ( )

Sweet book about a girl learning to cope and cook after her semi-famous TV chef dad leaves the family to live across the lake with a new, young wife. Nothing revolutionary, but Evie is a neat kid with a good voice and some original ways of getting through the rough stuff, so she might help a real kid going through the same kinds of things. ( )
