This is a great nonfiction text for students who love animals. Personally, I was not connected with the book because I am not an animal lover, but as I read more and more about each animal I could see many children having a connection. The vocabulary is simple for young children and describes many animals that children will be unfamiliar with which will open their minds to animals all around the world. The pictures go along with the text perfectly. For example, the miracle kitten has his mouth open in the picture and the text states "My teeth are starting to come in. Want to see? Ahhhhhhh!"
