I thought this was a clever version of what happens to Goldilocks after the three bears. One thing I liked was that the author chose to emphasize the sound effects of the book. The words, "THUMP. BUMP. KABOOM. KABOOM. KABOOM!" are all bolded and get bigger with each word. I also like how the author chose to end the book. "Pardon me. I say, has anyone seen a white rabbit lately?" The author makes a reference to Alice in Wonderland because she falls down a rabbit hole too. This story tells how one broken step can lead to very large problems. ( )

Summary: This book starts with Goldie running away from three bears. While running she steps into a rabbit hole hurting her foot. The three Hares Papa, Mama, and baby hare help her to their sofa to relax her foot. The Hare family tries to get rid of her, but she does not seem to want to go, that is until the baby hare, tells her he is going to call the bears.

Personal Reaction: Very cute story! It pick up where the book Goldie locks and three bears leaves off.

Extension Ideas: Have the students create a story about, "what happens when she leaves the Hare house." Have the students brainstorm creating new characters to change the plot of the story.

Summary:
This book is close to the original Goldilocks and The Three Bears, but has lots of twist, turns, and sarcasm that will have you falling out laughing on the floor. Three hares own a house and Goldie literally stumbles to their doorstep with an injury that causes her to have to stay at the Hares house. Goldie begins to wear out her welcome being demanding of all the things she needed and desired while she was injured. They tried to figure our how they could get rid of her so they thought she was called the skunk did not work so they called the Bears and she took of miraculously healed. Then behold Alice from Wonderland stumbled over the same step Goldie fell in on looking for the White Rabbit injured. So Dad Hare decided he needed to go and fix the step they all fell in on before someone else falls in on them.
Personal Reaction:
Loved it, funny, concerned about the sarcasm and reading it to little ones between three and five years old because it could pose a problem. Not for the bossy kid could add logs to the fire to encourage bossiness.
Classroom Extension Ideas:
1) Compare and Contrast- comparing the original Goldilocks and Three Bears, with this version.
2)Being Nice to people
3) Procrastination- The Daddy did not fix what he was supposed to fix and since he did not go ahead and do it the first time, stuff happened. ( )

Another great fractured fairy tale, this one continuing the story of Goldilocks after she escaped the three bears that she wronged. Now, she's being the world's worst house guest after injuring her foot on the rabbit's top doorstep. It's all very amusing. Another Jack E. Davis masterpiece in the illustration department. All in all, great book. ( )
