In the book Big Nate Strikes Again the protagonist is a young boy named Nate.He lives with his father and his sister Ellen. At the beginning Nate and his two friends,Francis and Teddy, are looking at a board of baby pictures and try to find people they know.Nate looks for a picture of Jenny,a girl he has liked since the third grade. He thinks he found the picture of Jenny but Gina,a girl who is Nate's rival, comes up to him and tells him to look on the back where he sees her name.He then goes to his first class which is his most hated because of the teacher Ms. Godfrey. She pulls out a folder for a special project and says everyone will write a research paper on a great American. She pulls names out of a Jar to see which two people will be working together. She ends up making Nate and Gina partners.Nate gets out of class and remembers the list of captains for a sport they play in school called Fleeceball, like baseball but with a broom instead of bat.He gets picked for captain but so does his bully ,Randy Betancourt.Randy shows up and makes fun of Nate.So Nate shows him the way to his locker where he opens it and a mountain of trash comes out and piles on Randy.Nate was sent to the library for being rude in science and the teacher tells him to come back after the bell rings.Nate remembers he needs to pick his team for fleeceball but his coach ends up picking his team and Gina is on it.Nate makes a deal with Gina that she will do the work for the project so Nate doesn't mess up her academic record and she won't play on Nate's team.So in the conclusion Nate is in the final round against Randy's team and Randy uses his foot and steps on Nate's ankle while sliding so he can't keep playing.Gina is called in and to everyone's surprise she makes a homer and wins. When they turn in the project the teacher says that Gina messed up because she printed the pictures and they had to be hand drawn.Nate saves the day because he had drawn comics of there American,Benjamin Franklin, and they get an A.
In my opinion this book deserves a 6 and a half stars. The characters are lovable and the book itself is funny. The character Nate is funny.Gina shows a good case of antagonist and protagonist.Randy is a character that we can all unite about hating, and Teddy and Francis are some what nice.In the book you really get a good first person view of Nate's life. You really see why he has the reasoning for the things he does.It really is a great book. Book Review
The second book in the “Big Nate” series written by Lincoln Pierce features sixth grader Nate, an aspiring cartoonist, who enjoys hanging out with his friends Teddy and Francis and crushes on a girl named Jenny. The two characters closest to resembling any kind of protagonist would be a bully named Randy and a brainy girl named Gina who is very involved in her academics. Yet we still see conflict take place throughout the plot of the story.

Personal Reflection
In my opinion Big Nate Strikes Again is an excellent choice for intermediate readers. It contains issues and situations that most kids can find relevance or at least humor in. Along with that the story features a main character young enough for kids to find it relatable and keep them involved in the book.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. Students could make their own comic strips like Nate.
2. Students discuss, write, or name a time they hid from somebody like Nate does in the book.
3. Nate has his two best friends, have students write about their two best friends and why they are friends. ( )

Won on first-reads/giveaway - thanks! It surprised me - it's a hardcover illustrated story, a la' [b:Diary of a Wimpy Kid|389627|Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, #1)|Jeff Kinney|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1255573105s/389627.jpg|2617009]. I'm a fan of the comic strip - it'll be interesting to see what a whole 'novel' will be like. It does look neat.

Ok, done. It was cute. The illustrations were a little odd because Nate draws almost as well as Nate's creator. Nate is nicer than the Wimpy Kid. All four of us read this and laughed. I look forward to finding more at the library - I think Peirce deserves more success than the authors of Wimpy Kid and Captain Underpants. ( )

Big Nate Strikes Again is about a boy who is not good at school. There is an annoying wiz in his grade. Big Nate and the wiz have to work together in a Ben Franklin project. I think that this book is good for once in a while. While it may be fun, it probably won't be fun if you read it too much. ( )
