- Descripción:
- Literacy Chicago is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the literacy skills of Chicago-area adults and families.
Literacy Chicago draws its history from two well-known Chicago-area literacy organizations: The Literacy Council of Chicago, founded in 1968 and Literacy Volunteers of Chicago, established in 1968. Recognizing that they could make a greater impact on the city’s literacy needs as a combined entity, the two nonprofit groups merged in 1992, creating the organization now known as Literacy Chicago.
Literacy Chicago today is the largest not-for-profit provider of free, individualized adult education and family literacy services in Illinois serving almost 1,500 adult learners each year. - Añadido Por
