Descripción:
Private collection (open to the public) of approx. 50,000 books, periodical volumes, government documents, maps and items of print ephemera. We exist to bring obscure and underutilized materials into the cultural mainstream. Our collection is browsable and organized so as to facilitate serendipity, discovery and surprise. The library is appropriation-friendly, which means that we encourage copying, scanning, photography and reuse of our materials (which lean heavily toward image-rich public main stuff) by artists, scholars, activists and members of the general public.

This is not necessarily a place to come seeking answers to highly specific research questions, but rather a library to explore, to experience surprises, and to find what you weren't quite looking for.

PLEASE NOTE: We are open irregular hours that change from week to week. Please see our website for this week's hours.

Almost 3,000 of our books are available for free online reading and downloading at the Internet Archive: http://www.archive.org/details/prelinger_library.
