In September 1980, the Norfolk & Norwich Koblenz Friendship Association was founded with the aim of promoting informal links between Norwich and Koblenz, building on a relationship between the Koblenz region and Norfolk which began as early as 1956. In July 2006 the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library welcomed the Librarian of Koblenz Dr. Ulrich Theuerkauf and it was agreed that a friendship between Koblenz and libraries in Norwich should be fostered.
