Primeros reseñadores
Perestroika overthrows communist regimes in Europe.
In the People's Republic of Slavia the former leaders are trying to survive the new times, while their victims seek revenge.
Former President Alfred Ionescu is placed in an asylum he himself built. Zut Zdanov, the head of culture, is confronted with his child abuse. Helena Yava, responsible for education, wants to avenge her lover's death. Igor Olin, responsible for the economy, fights for his disabled son to have a dignified life. Art historian Silvia Lenka wants to know who her parents are. Lia Kirchner, the daughter of a painter who died in a re-education camp, wants to know the truth.
Having as a binding element Pilate's question to Jesus “what is truth?”, Perestroika is a novel of revenge, redemption and catharsis inspired by recent European history.
Because of the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the threat of a third world war, I think this book addresses issues of critical interest in discussions on the problems of today's world.

I would like to present to you my novel Perestroika: An Eye for an Eye, a Tooth for a Tooth, published by Arkbound Foundation.
Because of the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the threat of a third world war, I think this book addresses issues of critical interest in discussions on the problems of today's world.
It is a historical fiction set in an imaginary country called Slavia. Having as a binding element Pilate's question to Jesus “what is truth?”, Perestroika is a novel of revenge, redemption and catharsis inspired by recent European history. The second part of the book coincides with the fall of the Berlin Wall. The character who becomes president after Perestroika, Ivan Fiorov, is both inspired by Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
The main character is a woman: Lia Kirchner.
Because the novel combines history, politics, arts, tragedy and humor, I think I have something truly original to offer you.
The target audiences are readers who like historical and literary fiction and also those who are interested in politics and human rights. In short, the book stands for political freedom and for humanitarian values.
The manuscript was finalist in the 2021 Eyland Awards, finalist in the Fiction Factory 2021, and received the Bronze Medal in the 2023 Latino Book Awards.
Best regards,
João
