Based on true events, Rain No Evil is quite a chilling tale of a families encounter with evil spirits invading their home and mind. I know for sure if I was experiencing the terror and psychological traumas the spirits were causing the family I would have been running for the hills, but they bravely stayed put to see it out to the bitter end.

The story has a humorous side but also brings a dark side to the family's plight and as unexplained events start to unfold you become embroiled in the family's fight to defeat the spirits. Her two sons bring warmth to the story as the youngest seemed to be one of the spirits targets, along with his mother, and the eldest was his little brothers reluctant protector.

Their personal story behind closed doors was totally different to one that was portrayed in the local community as the father, a well respected police officer, turned into a controlling force inflicting both verbal and emotional abuse on his family at home, mostly to his wife. This action caused a rift in the marriage and they both sort comfort and love from other quarters resulting in affairs, I did feel that the number of affairs could have been left out of the story line as it did not add any value to the plot.

Savannah's constant feeling of unworthiness and being unloved, and her strong belief in family values lead her to seek guidance from God and proof that he does really exist. In addition, seeking spiritual guidance and help from others, she did not expect the change and consequences it would bring about to her family's life.

Rain No Evil is a powerful story of a struggle between good and evil, temptation and abstinence. I was genuinely impressed that this was a debut novel - the words flow so easily and the descriptions are vivid without being overpowering. You can feel the narrator's struggle within herself, and her desire to be a good and faithful wife and Christian woman, despite the demons that appear to be surrounding her. There is a strong religious element to this, so I would caution any readers who are uncomfortable with that against reading this. Overall a great, page-turning read.… (más)

Savannah has been unhappy in her marriage for a long, long time. No matter how hard she tries, she can’t make her husband Alex show her any respect. She starts having rendezvous’ with other men, looking for the acceptance and love she misses so badly. This only makes her emptier with each encounter. She soon discovers this emptiness has opened a door for an evil force to attach to her.

I expected this story to lean more toward the paranormal, and it did, but what I wasn’t expecting was so much dialog of Savannah’s exploits and thoughts. To me, she actually seemed to be a sex addict. At times, I couldn’t understand her actions, but I can’t say how I would react in that situation. Otherwise, it was a great story that I enjoyed reading. I highly recommend it.… (más)

Rain No Evil by Michele Savaunah Zirkle Marcum contains a great juxtaposition of evil and goodness. Here the author writes about the fight to find the good even in harrowing times. Alex and Savannah Templeton are going through a difficult spot in their marriage, mainly due to infidelity. Savannah asks God for guidance, but receives an answer she may not be ready for. Rain No Evil is based on a true story, and the author uses the present tense narration and dialogue to pull the reader in and make the story even more explosive. With elements of a horrible marriage and lots of verbal abuse, along with paranormal, demonic random happenings, this is a unique story. The writing feels cathartic for Marcum, enabling her to tell the story. The descriptions are well written, the scenes are well captured, oftentimes the book is quite revealing on a personal level. Overall, an emotional tour de force that pulls the reader into the story.… (más)
