Chester J. Pach is a faculty member in the History Department at Ohio University. He is a preeminent historian in the field of U.S. foreign relations and a leading authority on the Eisenhower presidency. Pach is the author of The Presidency of Dwight D. Lightning strikes every time in the University of Kansas' consistently fine series of presidential histories. Just make sure you get the 2nd edition of this book, not the first. Pach's rewrite of Richardson's 1979 book is so tuned to the new pitch of Eisenhower scholarship that it even ventures some "post-revisionist" dissent from Ambrose-era enthusiasm. This book may not leave you liking Ike, but it will leave you wondering how his presidency ever came to suffer the libels of underestimation that it did.… (más)
