Marie Fürstin Gagarin (1904–1993)

Maria Belsky was born into an aristocratic Ukrainian family that fled the Russian Revolution for the French Riviera. She married a relative, Prince Vladimir Gagarin, another émigré, who became an agricultural engineer. With the last of their fortunes, they bought a small horticultural farm near Antibes. Marie Gagarin wrote in her memoirs that she had witnessed three reigns and three revolutions.
