Biografía breve
Béatrix d'Andlau, née Le Marois, was born in Paris to an illustrious family. She was the daughter of Elisabeth de Cléron d'Haussonville and comte Jacques Le Marois, president of the Société des courses de Deauville and mayor of Lonrai, France. Her younger brother Jean Le Marois also became a writer. She was a direct descendant of the famous Germaine de Staël. In 1918, she married Jean, comte d'Andlau. She earned a doctoral degree in philologie. She brought together the correspondence between Madame de Staël and a young Portuguese diplomat, Don Pedro de Souza (later Duke of Palmela), most of which was previously unpublished, in a volume published in 1979 with a preface and accompanying biographical material she wrote herself. She also wrote other biographies of Madame de Staël and her circle at the Château de Coppet in Switzerland.
