Biografía breve
Nicole "Nikki" Burnham is proud to be a fifth-generation Coloradoan. However, as the daughter of an Army dentist, she was raised traveling the world. At present count, she's lived in eight U.S. states. She also had the great fortune to attend Mannheim American High School in Germany. Growing up "military" gave her the opportunity to see the world in a way most American kids never can — her parents took her someplace new most weekends and nearly every school break. How many people can say they’ve skied the Swiss Alps, snorkeled in the Grenadines, and successfully haggled their way through Cairo’s Khan al Khalili marketplace? Needless to say, that upbringing left her with a permanent travel bug.

After graduating magna cum laude from Colorado State University with a BA in political science, she obtained both a law degree and a master’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan. She then focused on establishing what she thought would be a long, secure legal career. Those who know her weren’t surprised to see that the long, secure legal career didn't stick. She soon realized writing romance would be a more adventuresome career choice than writing stale legal briefs and started work on her first manuscript.

Though she now lives in a beautiful small town in Massachusetts, she still considers Colorado to be her home. When she's not at the computer, she enjoys relaxing with her family, spending time in her rose garden, playing in her local softball league and traveling — the more exotic the locale, the better. You can write to her at P.O. Box 229, Hopkinton, MA, 01748-0229. If you'd like to know about Nicole's upcoming books and appearances, check out her Web site at www.NicoleBurnham.com.

This book had potential but it kind of fell short. I really liked the premise. A young woman meets a young prince and they have a meaningful "fling" one summer. Fast forward 10 years and the two meet again. He's happy to see the woman he had a great summer with. She's hesitant to see the man who left her pregnant. The two have to reconcile for the sake of their child and neither can stop the old feelings from returning. To me, this is one of the best of tropes. But parts of book failed to work for me. I guess to me, there didn't seem to be legitimate reasons for them to be at odds the way they were at odds with each other. They were both perfectly nice and reasonable people and the conflict seemed too out of place. I enjoyed seeing Stefano get to know his daughter, but I wished we had seen more of the aftermath of everyone finding out he has a child. Maybe more of that comes out in other books in the series. I liked this book okay, but I'm not sure if I liked it enough to want to continue the series.

Because it's just a short (only about 35 pages), there isn't much development of characters or plot.

Simon Pulse Romantic Comedies are always a fun read. These books are not necessarily the best written novels but the stories are always fun and you know you will get a happy ending. I think some adult romances could take a note from these books b/c they are characterized well which is much of the battle in writing any novel since you want your characters, for the most part, to be endearing and relatable.
