Although the first volume of Here is
Greenwood left me feeling a bit confused, it was also a bit of a cliffhanger which warranted a reading of volume 2. In this volume Mitsuru, head resident of Greenwood and torturer of Kazuya (the hero) has been kidnapped in broad daylight off of the street. When Shun returns to Greenwood with this news it is met with varying degrees of apathy from his classmates, especially Kazuya. Oddly when a rescue plan is finally hatched Kazuya is in the forefront of the charge. A few other interesting sidelines are also approached in this volume, including the secret of Greenwood's only "couple" and more insight into Shun's family.

This volume was a bit easier for me to follow along with and I really found parts of the story quite funny. This manga is pleasant and innocent, certainly directed at the pre-teen to teen age levels. I enjoyed it and am considering continuing on with reading the series.

Kazuya has a problem. Not only has his self-sacrificing much admired brother taken an embarrassing job, he has also married the girl Kazuya loves. Kazuya feels his only option is to go away to boarding school. However Greenwood dormitory is not the haven Kazuya thought it would be. Between the stress of his new roommate, the Dorm Head and the Student Body president Kazuya will be lucky not to die of an overactive ulcer before he has a chance to graduate!

Although the premise of this manga sounded promising I found the stories to be too confusing and frequently found myself lost in the mass of differing characters and events. I really don't mind working hard at understanding manga, it took some time and multiple readings for me to get a handle on "Her Majesty's Dog" which I love, but unfortuntely this one proved to be more than I could comprehend. When I was able to follow the events portrayed I liked the story well enough. The drawing is well done and the characters, for the most part, were different enough that I could tell who was who. This particular manga seemed to be relatively tame, without any of the violent or sexual content you sometimes encounter in manga and although it is rated for older teens, I didn't feel the subject matter would be inappropriate for ages 12 and up. If I hadn't been so confused I would have probably really liked the story.… (más)
