The political intrigue of this mystery was a little more convoluted than I enjoy, but there were some parts I liked, and I'm generally pleased with the direction this series seems to be going in. So I'm pleased to continue with it. ( )

July 1812. Paul Gibson, anatomist and friend to St. Cyr, has illegally bought the body of a young man, Alexander Ross, who has died from a weak heart. But investigation reveals he was murdered. He asks for St. Cyr's help in discovering the murderer. A difficult case when there seems to be no motive. But soon another body is discovered.
An enjoyable and well-written historical mystery ( )

WHERE SHADOWS DANCE BY C.S. HARRIS is the 6th in the Sebastian St.Cyr series.

Lord Sebastian St Cyr is a young handsome man, living in England's 1800's. Even though Sebastian is a lord,he is also a criminalist, trying to solve those murders that he finds interesting. In WHERE SHADOW'S DANCE, he is called to the home of his best friend Dr.Paul Gibson. Gibson is an anatomist, he illegally procured dead bodies by buying them from grave robbers. This is HIGHLY illegal and could see him in jail or worse.
Gibson gets the body of a government official who has supposedly died of heart disease at a very young age. What Gibson finds is murder and of course calls on his friend to find the killer without exposing Gibson. What comes next is murder upon murder all in the name of good government .

I have become rather hooked on this series. The characters, their actions and their humor makes the Sebastian St Cyr series one of my favorites. This series offers the readers a mix of genre's . Mystery/historical fiction/romance and just a sprinkle of humor. ( )

Sebastian St. Cyr finds himself in the realm of international intrigue when he investigates the murder of a foreign office diplomat--a murder his reluctant bride-to-be, Hero Jarvis, knows something about. Set in Regency London: July, 1812.

Sebastian gets involved in a complicated investigation involving many suspects, different countries and various motives. I enjoy this author’s writing style but I had trouble keeping track of all the suspects so the story lost momentum for me. I still like Sebastian and Hero and enjoyed reading about their ups and downs. This is the least favorite of the books I’ve read in this series but I liked it enough to want to continue with the series. ( )

You can’t help but love Sebastian St. Cyr. He is a likable and honorable man as well as an aristocratic sleuth. He’s a rebel to the Ton and yet is easily accepted in their orbit. Every branch of the ruling government asks for his help to solve these complicated murder cases. Ms. Harris has plenty of fodder for many, many future books…which is a good thing. We hope to see how he deals with his love for Kat and his attraction to Hero Jarvis who has just reluctantly become his wife for very noble reasons. We are also waiting to learn the identity of his real father and the whereabouts of his mother. It seems that each book in this series just gets better and better. Maybe it’s because the reader sees the characters continue to grow and change. The entire series thus far has been historical fiction at it’s very best. ( )

The old tree groans to the blast,

The falling branch resounds.

The wind drives the clung thorn

Along the sighing grass,

He shakes amid the night.

Dark, dusky, howling is night,

Cloudy, windy, full of ghosts;

The dead are abroad, my friends

receive me from the night.

A cool wind gusted up, rustling the branches of the trees overhead and bringing with it the unmistakable clatter of wooden wheels approaching over cobblestones.
