This is a book about a boy who refused to go to school. The parents had high hopes for the boy. As a baby they hoped he would be a fireman, a sailor, or maybe even the president of the united states. Because he refused to go to school, he could not read, write, or count, and this caused problems his life, until one day he decided he needed to go to school. I would read this book for students on the first day of school, or to kids who may have been missing a lot, like in the middle of the school year, or towards the end when everyone wants to be done already. reflection: I thought this book was funny, mostly because of the drawings in the book and how plain looking it is. I like how it can reinforce to children that going to school is important because you can learn all the things you need for when you grow older.
